WEEK 7

Week 7: 17th May, 2017 -  23rd May, 2017

Week 7 mainly focused around wrapping up loose ends. After assembling all the parts of the colonoscope simulation, it was finally time to "put our money where our mouths were". After establishing a meeting time with the machine shop professional, Mark, he was able to introduce us to the final step of our project. After we all grabbed some safety eye wear, he demonstrated for us on how to use the air compressor. With some force of attaching the male end to the female end, the pressure increased inside the tube shooting the capsule up. The pressure inside the tube had to be manipulated so that the pill could “levitate.” After coming to the conclusion that 80 psi inside the tube was needed, as seen by the pressure regulators, the external horseshoe magnet was used to control the pill. After we tested and made sure the pill was behaving the way we wanted it to we started to record. We used one of the team members phone to record the footage. The pill was guided through the tube which was supported up by the air flow. Once we finished up in the machine shop, we began to analyze our video to make sure we had all the angles necessary to showcase the simulations function. Once we completed the assembly and testing of our colonoscopy simulator we started to discuss the final presentation.
